I'm feeling pretty good these days about most of my forms. Well, all of them actually, except for Suishi-no-kan. I'm not sure why I've got such a block about it, especially since I know the modified version very well. I guess cause it seems like such a long form. I asked Dave and Tom to go over it with us on Sunday at our regular forms session, and they were great at explaining the steps. Still, we only managed to get about 1/2 way through before the group broke up to do other things.
So to cement in my head what we had learned, I vowed I would practice it at least three days of the following week. Today was the first of those days, and I diligently practiced. And remembered!! So then I wanted to move on to the next set of moves. But I couldn't remember what came next, no matter how I racked my brain. So I went up to my husband's stack of form instructions to find the instructions for Suishi-no-kan.
At first the instructions looked very precise. Such and such a direction, stance, what the hands do and how they move and which way you should be facing and head direction and abbreviations and WTH???? Tooooooooo much precision and info and my head started to explode (well, not literally, as that would get a bit messy).
So I turned to the trusty ole' internet and found this video on You Tube. The guy holds the bo slightly differently than we do, and steps back instead of up in a couple of cases, but all in all, it seems to me to be exactly what I need. And get this -- the second part of the video is the first part done in super slow motion. Even slow enough for me to follow with my makeshift bo that I feel completely comfortable about using in the house.

Wow, I like his ending!
this is a pretty good version -- the sequence is the same as ours, so it is useful for memory training. Ours has slight variations in technique, but that shouldn't bother you...
oh, and ask me on Sunday and I'll go over it with you.
Thanks!!
